Megan Martin
THERAPY
My name is Megan (she/her), and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Family Studies from Towson University in 2024. I am currently completing my clinical internship at Grey Matter Counseling & Consulting, where I am gaining experience working with adolescents and young adults.
My own experiences with counseling first introduced me to the field during my freshman year of high school, when I began therapy to cope with the impact anxiety was having on my everyday life. During my junior year, I discovered my passion for psychology through my AP Psychology course. Around the same time, I experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. These experiences helped shape my desire to support others as they navigate the challenges, transitions, and unexpected experiences that life can bring.
I look forward to working primarily with adolescents and young adults as they navigate the many transitions that come with these stages of life. I believe therapy should be a space where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted for who they are, while also having the opportunity to explore who they want to become.
After graduation, I plan to pursue licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and continue my training in trauma-focused interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As a counselor-in-training in a CACREP-accredited master’s program, I am committed to providing ethical, trauma-informed, and client-centered care.
I aspire to be the kind of counselor who sits alongside people rather than above them, walking beside them as they navigate their own journey. I want to create a space where clients feel safe enough to share their stories, perhaps for the first time, and supported as they discover the most authentic version of themselves, not the version they believe others expect them to be. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I hope to hold up a mirror that allows them to recognize the strength, resilience, and wisdom they already possess. I do not want to lead someone’s journey for them; I want to be present alongside them, offering support, understanding, and compassion as they find their own way.
If you are considering beginning therapy, please feel free to reach out to schedule an initial intake session. This first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, discuss what brings you to therapy, and determine whether we are a good fit. Finding the right counselor is a lot like finding the right partner; what works well for one person may not be the right fit for another. I am a strong advocate for finding a therapeutic relationship that feels right for you.
