Meet Ashley: Helping You Heal Through the Power of Touch
Ashley has been practicing massage therapy since 1999 and brings a wealth of experience and passion for helping people heal to the Grey Matter team. Before joining the team, she worked in a variety of settings, from spas to chiropractic and physical therapy offices, and even explored other corporate careers before returning to her true passion: massage therapy.
As a lifelong dancer and former dance instructor, Ashley first became fascinated with how the body moves and recovers. Her previous work in physical therapy sparked an interest in the therapeutic side of massage, looking at how touch can ease pain, release tension, and support emotional healing.
When working with clients, Ashley takes a holistic, intuitive approach to massage. She listens closely to not only what clients say but to what their bodies are communicating. She integrates myofascial techniques, a slow, focused style of massage that works with the fascia, or connective tissue surrounding muscles, to release tension.
““It’s not just about digging in deep. It’s about helping the body unwind in a way that supports healing.”
Beyond the physical benefits, Ashley views massage as a form of self care. Some clients use their sessions to process their week, while others prefer relaxation. “It’s your hour,” Ashley says, “Whether you want to talk, sleep, or simply breathe - this time is for you.”
For anyone curious about trying massage therapy, Ashley’s advice is simple: “Give it a try. Think of it as a way of hitting the reset button on your whole body, and we all can use that.” She encourages newcomers to communicate their comfort levels and reminds them that they’re always in control of their session. Her goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to reconnect with their bodies.
When she’s not at Grey Matter, Ashley enjoys dancing, spending time with family, and continuing to learn new bodywork techniques.
