Meet Hannah: Supporting Youth Through Comfort and Connection
Hannah’s journey into counseling is deeply personal and rooted in resilience. After growing up in a troubled home and spending her teen years navigating child protective services, she experienced firsthand how one therapist, who showed up for her week after week, gave her hope. “Even when I wasn’t ready to open up, she was there,” says Hannah. “That care made me want to give back to others the way she gave to me.”
Now, Hannah is joining Grey Matter as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and is bringing that same empathy to her work with her clients. Hannah primarily works with children, adolescents, and young adults, offering a space where clients feel seen, heard, and in control of their healing journey. “I want my clients to know that this is their space,” she says. “They set the pace and I’ll meet them where they are.”
Drawing from person-centered and humanistic approaches, Hannah describes herself as a “therapist chameleon” - adapting her style to meet the needs of each unique client. She integrates person-centered, emotion-focused, and holistic modalities, and hopes to pursue Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training in the future. She is also currently certified in trauma-focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
When working with her clients, Hannah often connects through shared interests, whether it’s discussing video games like Stardew Valley and Dungeons & Dragons, or enjoying feel-good movies like Brother Bear and Mamma Mia! “I believe in the importance of play,” says Hannah. “It keeps us connected to joy and creativity.”
Hannah will be available to see clients ages 10 and up virtually, and in-person for children under 10. She looks forward to helping young people build trust, explore their emotions, and discover their strengths - just as someone did for her.
